Chemical Peels

Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin that is typically performed on the face, neck or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to “blister” and eventually peel off. Chemical peels aim to remove dead skin cells from the skin surface, allowing new, healthy skin cells to grow back, and to create smoother-looking skin.

It is a treatment technique used to improve and smoothen the texture of facial skin, using a chemical solution that causes dead skin to slough off and eventually peel away. The regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than old skin. It is also commonly used to improve sun-damaged skin, pigmentation and large pores. Even though it is most often used on the face, it is also suitable for the skin on the back, neck and hands.

How does it work?

Each treatment usually takes about 10 minutes to complete. Patients will feel a mild itch and warmth as the peel is being applied. Once the treatment is complete, these sensations typically go away. Over the next few days, patients will notice more skin peeling whenever they wash the treated area, after which, smoother, and more even skin tone is achieved.
